big fat farm transition

The Story Behind The Big Fat Farm

Lauren and Jesse got married on Lauren's parent's farm in Dodge Center, Minnesota. Dodge Center is roughly 90 miles south of Minneapolis in the county of Dodge (20 miles east of Owatonna and 20 miles west of Rochester). Like both of her parents, Lauren grew up in Dodge Center (population 2,052), and attended school there. While it has been years since she has called DC home, the little town will always remain very dear to her. She grew up in the heart of the city where she could walk to school everyday, and ride her bike to the pool in the summer. Until her 15th year. It was then that her parents got the crazy notion to buy a hobby farm a few miles outside the city limits. Lauren made it no secret that she was anything but thrilled with being uprooted from the only home she ever knew (it was also the home her father grew up in), only to be thrown out into the boonies. In fact, the day they moved she vowed never to forgive her parents for forcing her to leave her beautiful white, three story home on the corner lot in town. But she had no choice but to move with them and she did so with a heavy heart. Fast forward 13 years and a few days and this begrudged now beloved hobby farm will be the location of Lauren and Jesse's wedding. One could only assume that Lauren has forgiven her parents for making her move out to the country back in '98, although she may not ever admit it to them.

Update: She forgave her parents. ;)

I literally just stood up, turned in a circle, sat back down and then squealed out loud. YOU HAD THE LOVE ACTUALLY LINE AS A BANNER AT YOUR WEDDING? Do you know how jealous I am? That is mine and my husband's all time favorite movie. I cannot believe I didn't think of that. GENIUS.

Your wedding was absolutely beautiful! I'm planning a wedding on my friends farm but it will be a lot less exciting than yours!

I especially loved the "Love Actually" sign. Favorite movie ever!

Love the beautiful wedding pictures! My friend did something similar in small town ontario last year and it turned out to be just beautiful! A lot of work, but lasting memories .... and her parents got to benefit from an updated farm :)
Looking forward to reading more!
